Help re-elect ADAM GALLAGHER, Dane County Treasurer

My Experience

The Treasurer’s Office has a predominantly process-driven administrative role. Independent election of the constitutional office is important to retain flexibilty in balancing the needs of the county and those of individual property owners. I have proactively implemented practices that pursue equity for both county finances and Dane County taxpayers as descried below...
Proactive Outreach
Proactive Outreach
I personally connected property owners during and after working hours with resources ranging from budget counselors to benefit specialists to veteran service officers for assistance that helps improve their standard of living, gets them caught up on property taxes, and prevents tax deeding of their property thereby allowing them to stay in their homes.
Taxpayer Equity
Taxpayer Equity
I worked with property owners to decrease property tax delinquencies 15%-20% per year over the past four years, recovered about $1M from the sale of tax-deeded lands, and returned $2.4M worth of property value back to a tax-paying status – all of which reduces the tax burden on other Dane County tax payers.
Community Support
Community Support
I collaborated with local municipalities and private property owners to preserve pristine conservancy green space, remediate and redevelop contaminated brownfields, and preserve local cultural values like the Sid Boyum artwork found on tax-deeded lands.
Legislative Initiatives
Legislative Initiatives
I worked for passage of both state and local legislation … recognition of Dane County Treasurer’s Office as the official Dane Arts Posters site, cost effective publishing of unclaimed funds, proactive implementation of county divestment from fossil fuels, and development of brownfield remediation guidelines.
